Mamadou Edrisa Njie
Mr. Mamadou Edrisa Njie is an international journalist cum social justice activist. He’s eager to share his ideas. He publishes and edits a current affairs blog (http://mansabanko.blogspot.com) and regularly contributes articles in daily newspapers, including The Daily News (www.dailynews.gm
  
Mr. Njie is the founder of the GlobalYouth Innovation Network Gambia chapter (www.gyin.org) and editorial assistant and newsroom coordinator for The Gambia News and Report weekly magazine, the only current affairs magazine in Banjul, The Gambia

Engaged idealist, he wrote numerous articles about the environment, press freedom, youth matters, women empowerment, social justice, and the African continent in English. He gets along well with colleagues on the job as well as with all others he comes in contact with and he is found to be responsible, conscious, a team player, talented and energetic. 

Mr. Njie is an alumna of the International Institute for Journalism- Germany (IIJ of InWent); Ambassador GYIN;  Ambassador One Young World (www.oneyoungworld.com) and a founding member cum social secretary for the Biodiversity Action Journalists of The Gambia (BAJ-Gambia).  


Born and raised in Jarumeh Koto, Sami District, in Central River Region, the first son of Mr. Edrisa and Mrs. Ramatoulie Saidy-Bah, Mr. Njie hailed from a devout Muslim family. He first went to the “Dara” Koranic school, and then to Jarumeh Koto Primary School, Junior Secondary School, High School and Tertiary Institute. 

It was in November 2006 when he started practicing journalism the now defunct Daily Express Newspaper. In January of the following year, he left for The Gambia News and Report weekly magazine as a staff reporter. 

From January 2010 to date, he’s been a contributor/columnist with The African Voice Newspaper, published in Dublin, Ireland.  


Njie is a motivational speaker, coach and serves as a mentor to many young Gambians, especially young journalists. He represented his country in numerous trainings, seminars, conferences both nationally and internationally.  

Njie has been a recipient of awards and recognitions: Young Volunteers for the Environment-YVE-The Gambia ‘Clean Energy for Africa 2012 Activities’, 12/2012, Banjul, The Gambia and Young Journalists Association of The Gambia (YJAG) ‘Success of all YJAG Activities Programmes’11/2011, Banjul, The Gambia.  

Njie received awards in recognition of his using the social media and successfully implemented all YJAG activities on training programmes and event management.  

Njie travelled widely in Africa, attending trainings, conferences, seminars and had met the continent's top personality Kofi Anna.
