Malawi: SEYCOHAIDS 2012 Conference Gathers Pace

www.seycohaids.org: "We welcome you to the website of the Southern and Eastern Africa Youth Conference on HIV/AIDS and Reproductive Health Rights for Sustainable Development (SEYCOHAIDS) 2012 to be held in Lilongwe the capital of Malawi  on 6 - 8 June 2012.
"The Southern and Eastern Youth Conference on HIV /AIDS  SEYCOHAIDS 2012, is organised by Global Hope Mobilization-GLOHOMO, in a partnership  with the Malawi Government youth organizations, coalitions and networks, UN and governments working on HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health of young people  in Africa. The SEYCOHAIDS 2012 is made up of youths from SADC, EAC, ECOWAS, COMESA and other youth networks’ such as Africa Youth for Science and Technology , Global Youth Coalition on AIDS (GYCA) and AFRIYAN

"As the largest international youth gathering on HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights in the Eastern and Southern Africa region on young people, SEYCOHAIDS 2012 will serve as a landmark event for the HIV AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights community. It is a unique gathering where young researchers, policy makers, activists, educators, people living with HIV link with people in other countries and meet to share and learn about HIV prevention methods, treatments, care policies and programs relating to HIV/AIDS and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights  in Africa. Conference will bring together diverse participants, to reflect gender equity, regions and people living with AIDS which will give unique dimension.  The Conference will provide a platform for variety of constituencies to compete for limited resources and time to highlight their issues on ground.

"Over the last couple of years there has been conferences marked by a huge youth attendance but not necessarily participation. At HLM in New York a month ago, young people attending the conference demonstrated their strength in having a comprehensive and united front for young people; organizing and mobilizing youth leaders and ensuring their access to key government and civil society leaders.

"The Lilongwe 2012 SEYCOHAIDS will build upon the successes of the HLM youth programme to coordinate a comprehensive youth programme for youths participating in the conference by getting most youth leaders in the region to the conference."
