"Human Milk For Human Beings"

From the 1st to 7th August, marks a very significant week in the promotion of Child Survival and Development, and good maternal health: it is World Breastfeeding Week.
The week is commemorated annually, serves to remind all the peoples especially mothers about the importance of breastfeeding, again it reminds all mothers that a great number of young children around the world are sick and hungry, with the highest rates of child mortality and morbidity recorded in Sub Saharan Africa, due to lack of exclusive breastfeeding.

According to figures, over 24,000 children under-five die every day, mainly from preventable diseases, which reports indicated that it is due to lack of exclusive breastfeeding. This means that one child dies unnecessarily every 3 seconds, so it is very important that we breastfeed our children with human milk and do away with feeding our children with cow milk as the saying goes, "human milk is for human beings and cow milk for the cows."
Scientifically prove has had that breastfeeding is an added advantage for children as the breast food contains exactly the nutrients that a baby needs, so it is high time that all women breastfeeding their children for six months without food or water. Breastfeeding is easily digested and efficiently used by the body,
first immunisation as it contains antibodies (protect against
infection).
Breast milk is clean and safe it never goes bad in breast, safe at room temperature for eight hours, according to medical experts. Quite a number of these deaths are attributed specifically to causes which include diarrhoea, malaria, neonatal infection, pneumonia, preterm delivery,or lack of oxygen at birth. Among these conditions, pneumonia and diarrahoea account for the highest child deaths, with pneumonia recorded second.
Exclusive breastfeeding for at least six months is one of the most powerful and most inexpensive instruments to fight child diseases. Again, exclusive breastfeeding plays an integral role in providing the
necessary nutritional requirements for babies and infants for the first six onths, continues to make a significant contribution to children's healthy growth, and physical as well as mental develoment while lowering the incidence and degree of child diseases. It's also a hard fact that is part of the advantages of breastfeeding
that, it helps love, bonding and development between the mother and the child. Helps delay a new pregnancy, protect mother's health and can be done anywhere and of course anytime.
On the side of the coin, artificial feeding lower scores on intelligence test, mother may become pregnant sooner and interferes with mothers love with the child.
Mother need to increase the rates of exclusie breastfeeding, especially in developing countries, and reduce the incidence of child mortality and morbidity.
